Fire protection
Since 1 November 2016, windows, external doors and gates with fire and smoke protection requirements according to DIN EN 16034 in conjunction with the respective product standards DIN EN 14351-1 (external doors and windows) and DIN EN 13241 (gates) can be marketed throughout Europe with a combined CE marking.
Necessary test certificates are provided in accordance with DIN EN 1634-1 (fire resistance tests) and DIN EN 1191 (durability test for doors) or DIN EN 12605 (durability test for gates).
Windows, external doors and gates with fire protection requirements according to DIN EN 16034 are subject to conformity system 1.
Thus, in addition to the above-mentioned test certificates, external monitoring and certification by a notified certification body is necessary. Once the requirements have been met, this certification body issues the certificate of constancy of performance as the basis for the CE marking.
The coexistence phase has been set until 01.11.2019. Until the expiry of the coexistence phase, the national procedure is therefore permissible as an alternative. For interior doors (prEN 14351-2) and power-operated doors (EN 16361 not yet published in the Official Journal), only the national procedure is currently permissible in the absence of an edition of a product standard published in the Official Journal.
In the national procedure, the proof of usability of fire protection shutters is provided by means of a general building approval (AbZ) or approval in individual cases (ZiE).
For this purpose, the above-mentioned test certificates for fire resistance and durability tests according to the European standard are applicable. Alternatively, proofs of durability according to DIN 4102-18 can still be used.
