Break-out prevention

In addition to correctional facilities and forensic and psychiatric hospitals with closed wards, breakout prevention is also required in police custody rooms.

Points such as prevention of suicide / risk of injury, protection against the positioning of objects especially in window elements, room ventilation, as well as a robust design to prevent functional failures must be taken into account.

In cooperation with the VfS (Verband für Sicherheitstechnik) as well as the relevant authorities, the PfB has been involved for several years and has developed the following draft guideline.

VfS – Guideline (draft) “Break-out prevention – windows and doors for custody rooms, closed areas, psychiatric clinics, forensic clinics and correctional facilities – requirements, specifications and tendering aids” Edition January 2015
